CUNYAC/Metro PCS Women’s Volleyball Player of the Week

Dalliana Toussaint, CCNY

Outside Hitter/Senior/Brooklyn, NY/Secondary School for Research

Dalliana Toussaint has been named the CUNYAC/Metro PCS Women’s Volleyball Player of the Week. The captain played in seven games this week notching 89 kills, 85 digs, and 12 serving aces as CCNY went 4-3 for the week. Against John Jay, the Beaver compiled 11 kills and 9 digs as CCNY won 3-0. That same day in a 3-0 win over Medgar Evers, the senior compiled seven kills, 10 digs, and three serving aces. A 3-2 victory over Mount Saint Vincent saw Toussaint rack up 23 more kills and 26 additional assists as she had her first double-double of the week. She recorded her second double-double against WPI accumulating 14 kills and 10 assists. She finished out her week with a third double-double against Sarah Lawrence with 15 kills and 23 digs. The 4-3 week included two conference victories and brought CCNY to 5-2 in conference play.

 

CUNYAC/Metro PCS Women’s Volleyball Rookie of the Week

Aimee Grossman, CCNY

Setter/Freshman/Brooklyn, NY/Sheepshead Bay

Aimee Grossman has been named the CUNYAC/Metro PCS Women’s Volleyball Rookie of the Week. Grossman played in six games this week compiling an astounding 147 assists as CCNY went 4-3 for the week. She began the week against John Jay, the freshman had 19 assists and seven digs as CCNY won 3-0. In a 3-2 victory over Mount Saint Vincent, the Brooklyn native accumulated 33 assists and 16 digs. She had 23 helpers and seven digs as the Beavers took on WPI. Her most outstanding game of the week came against Sarah Lawrence. In the four set victory, the setter had an amazing 42 assists to help her teammates finish the week on a positive note. The 4-3 week included two conference victories and brought CCNY to 5-2 in conference play.

 

CUNYAC/Applebee’s Women’s Soccer Player of the Week

Dzindzi Asamoah-Wade, CCNY

Midfielder/Senior/Rochester, NY/Nazareth Academy

Dzindzi Asamoah-Wade has been announced the CUNYAC/Applebee’s Women’s Soccer Player of the Week for the second time this season. In two games this week, the captain scored three goals and one assist that contributed to an 8-0 goals differential for the week. In a 4-0 conference victory over Lehman, the senior had a one goal helping in the shutout effort. Against Brooklyn, Wade scored two goals and assisted on another as the Beavers were victorious 4-0. Her efforts throughout the season have her ranked among the national leaders in goals with 14. CCNY’s season continues to set records as this group of ladies has set school records for wins, shutouts, and goals scored in a single season.

 

CUNYAC/Applebee’s Women’s Soccer Rookie of the Week

Paola Ramos, CCNY

Forward/Freshman/Elmhurst, NY/Benjamin N. Cardozo

Paola Ramos has been named the CUNYAC/Applebee’s Women’s Soccer Rookie of the Week. The rookie had an outstanding five assists and one goal as the Beavers outscored opponents 8-0 this week. Her efforts in the 4-0 wins over Lehman and Brooklyn have emphasized her passing ability. The forward has been a key component in CCNY’s record breaking season as the Beavers have set singles season school records for wins, shutouts, and goals.

 

CUNYAC/Applebee’s Women’s Soccer Defender of the Week

Lindsay De La Rosa, CCNY

Defender/Junior/Flushing, NY/Brooklyn Tech

Lindsay De La Rosa has been named the first ever CUNYAC/Applebee’s Women’s Soccer Defender of the Week. The award begins this week as CUNYAC looks to highlight the other side of the ball. Due to an injury, De La Rosa played out of position against Lehman but that didn’t faze this veteran as she contributed to a 4-0 shutout. She followed up her performance against Brooklyn as her efforts earned the team another 4-0 shutout. The defender has played an integral part in CCNY’s record breaking pace as they have broken single season school records for wins, shutouts, and goals.

 

CUNYAC/Applebee’s Men’s Soccer Player of the Week

Alwyn Adams, Brooklyn

Midfielder/Senior/Linden, Guyana/Raymore-Peculiar

Alwyn Adams has been named the CUNYAC/Applebee’s Men’s Soccer Player of the Week. In just two games this week, the senior scored six goals and assisted on one other. In a 10-2 victory over conference opponent Medgar Evers, Adams had a hat-trick including a game winning goal. The Bulldog followed up that performance against John Jay notching another hat-trick including the game-winner and assisting on another goal. His effort led Brooklyn to a 5-3 win over the Bloodhounds. The two conference wins bring Brooklyn to 8-4-2 overall and 4-1-2 in CUNYAC.

CUNYAC/Applebee’s Men’s Soccer Rookie of the Week

Oren Kozlowski, Baruch

Forward/Freshman/Tulsa, Oklahoma/Booker T. Washington

Oren Kozlowski has been named the CUNYAC/Applebee’s Men’s Soccer Rookie of the Week. This accolade marks the fifth time he has won the CUNAYC Rookie of the Week Award. This week the freshman played against Lehman, scoring one goal and assisting on another as the Bearcats edged out the Lightning 4-3. Kozlowski has made a significant impact in every game he has played for Baruch. In his eight starts, the Oklahoma native has nine goals. The victory brings the Bearcats to a 7-4-3 record overall and a 5-0-2 record in CUNYAC.

 

CUNYAC/Applebee’s Men’s Soccer Defender of the Week

Jorge Garcia, CCNY

Defender/Freshman/Santiago, Chile/PV Regional

Jorge Garcia has been named the first ever CUNYAC/Applebee’s Men’s Soccer Defender of the Week. The award begins this week as CUNYAC looks to highlight the other side of the ball. The rookie played in three games this week as the Beavers took on Berkeley and conference opponents Staten Island and Hunter. Against Berkeley, the center back played most of the game as CCNY was victorious 3-2. Garcia followed up that performance in a game against the College of Staten Island as the Beavers won 3-2 in double overtime. He finished out the week in a shutout of Hunter as CCNY won 1-0 in overtime. The 3-0 week brought the Beavers record to 6-6-2 overall and 4-1-1 in conference play.

 

CUNYAC/U.S. Army Women's Cross Country Athlete of the Week

Elizabeth Mahoney, Hunter

Senior/Auburn, NY/Auburn HS

Elizabeth Mahoney has been named the CUNYAC/US Army Women's Cross Country Athlete of the Week for the fourth consecutive week as the senior continues to pile on the accolades. At the St. John’s Invitational in Jamaica, New York, the Hawk captain placed 1st out of 57 runners. Her time of 16:05.64 in the 4K landed put her ahead of all other runners by almost 30 seconds. The reigning CUNYAC Runner of the Year would help Hunter place 3rd out of the nine team field.

 

CUNYAC/U.S. Army Women's Cross Country Rookie of the Week

Brooke King, John Jay

Freshman/Reedsville, PA/Mifflin County

Brooke King has been named the CUNYAC/US Army Women's Cross Country Rookie of the Week for the second time this season. The honor marks the fourth award King has won since bursting onto the season this season. This week the rookie competed in the St. John’s Invitational. Her 4K time of 16:46 was good for 3rd place out of the 57 runner field. Her time would have put her 20th in the Division I race. King’s effort helped the Bloodhounds to a 6th place finish in the nine team field.

 

CUNYAC/U.S. Army Men’s Cross Country Athlete of the Week

John Aiken, Hunter

Freshman/Huntington Station, NY/Walt Whitman

John Aiken has been announced the CUNYAC/US Army Men's Cross Country Athlete of the Week for the third time this season as Hunter continues their sweep of the accolade. The sophomore ran against tough competition at the St. John’s Invitational in Jamaica, New York. His time of 17:39.44 was good for 3rd out of 64 runners but first for all CUNY runners. His effort helped Hunter finish 4th out of eight teams.

 

CUNYAC/U.S. Army Men’s Cross Country Rookie of the Week

Samuel Obisanya, Staten Island

Freshman/Staten Island, NY/Curtis

Samuel Obisanya has been announced the CUNYAC/US Army Men's Cross Country Rookie of the Week for the third consecutive time. At the Brooklyn College versus CSI Meet in Prospect Park, the rookie finished 1st overall with a time of 29:33. The Dolphin’s effort put him just 0.22 seconds ahead of the second place finisher.
