CUNYAC/Metro PCS Women’s Volleyball Player of the Week

Dalliana Toussaint, CCNY

Outside Hitter/Senior/Brooklyn, NY/Secondary School for Research

Dalliana Toussaint has been named the CUNYAC/Metro PCS Women’s Volleyball Player of the Week for the second consecutive week. The captain played in two games this week as the Beavers went 2-0. In a 3-2 victory over Brooklyn Toussaint posted a double-double with 16 kills and 19 digs. She followed up that performance with a four serving ace, 10 dig effort in the 3-0 victory over St. Joseph’s College.

 

CUNYAC/Metro PCS Women’s Volleyball Rookie of the Week

Imani Dubois, Lehman

Setter/Freshman/Bronx, NY/JP Taravella

Imani Dubois has been named the CUNYAC/Metro PCS Women’s Volleyball Rookie of the Week for the third time this season. The rookie played in five games this week as she accumulated an outstanding 146 assists, 21 serving aces, and 57 digs. She began the week against St. Joseph’s of Brooklyn with 35 assists, three serving aces, and 13 digs as the Lightning were victorious 3-2. Against conference opponent CSI, the freshman notched 29 assists, seven serving aces, and 12 digs as Lehman won 3-1. Dubois then played in a 3-1 victory over New Rochelle; picking up 26 assists, seven serving aces, and 11 digs. That same day against Mount St. Vincent, the Bronx native compiled 29 assist and 16 digs as the Lightning took the game 3-1. She finished out her week against Manhattanville with 27 assists, four serving aces, and five digs. The freshman set new career and season highs with her seven ace performances and her 35 assist effort.

 

CUNYAC/Applebee’s Women’s Soccer Player of the Week

Dzindzi Asamoah-Wade, CCNY

Midfielder/Senior/Rochester, NY/Nazareth Academy

Dzindzi Asamoah-Wade has been announced the CUNYAC/Applebee’s Women’s Soccer Player of the Week for the second consecutive week and third time overall. The Beavers’ captain played in four games this week as she compiled four goals and four assits. Against NYU-Poly the senior scored three goals and assisted on another as CCNY won 6-0. In a 3-0 nonconference victory over John Jay, she tacked another assist onto her total. She added one goal and two assists as the Beavers took down the Cougars of Medgar Evers 7-0. Her efforts throughout the season have her ranked among the national leaders in goals. CCNY’s season continues to set records as this group of ladies has set school records for wins, shutouts, and goals scored in a single season.

 

CUNYAC/Applebee’s Women’s Soccer Rookie of the Week

Tatiana Ambarsom, John Jay

Forward/Freshman/Queens, NY/Garden School

Tatiana Ambarson has been named the CUNYAC/Applebee’s Women’s Soccer Rookie of the Week. The rookie had an outstanding game this week as the Bloodhounds defeated the Bulldogs of Brooklyn 2-0. In the game, the Queens native scored both goals on just four shots.

 

CUNYAC/Applebee’s Women’s Soccer Defender of the Week

Heather Ruger, CCNY

Defender/Junior/Montgomery, NY/Valley Central

Heather Ruger has been named the CUNYAC/Applebee’s Women’s Soccer Defender of the Week. The award began last week as CUNYAC looks to highlight the other side of the ball. Ruger started all four games this week as the sweeper. Her efforts led the Beavers to three shutout victories against NYU-Poly, John Jay, and Medgar Evers. The captain has played an integral part in CCNY’s record breaking pace as they have broken single season school records for wins, shutouts, and goals.

 

CUNYAC/U.S. Army Women's Cross Country Athlete of the Week

Elizabeth Mahoney, Hunter

Senior/Auburn, NY/Auburn HS

Elizabeth Mahoney has been named the CUNYAC/US Army Women's Cross Country Athlete of the Week for the fifth consecutive week as the senior continues to pile on the accolades. At the CTC Cross Country Championships in Sewell, NJ, the Hawks’ captain placed 6th out of 69 runners. Her time of 24:02.2 in the 6000 meter run put her ahead of all other CUNY runners. The reigning CUNYAC Runner of the Year would help Hunter place 5th out of the seven team field.

 

CUNYAC/U.S. Army Women's Cross Country Rookie of the Week

Brooke King, John Jay

Freshman/Reedsville, PA/Mifflin County

Brooke King has been named the CUNYAC/US Army Women's Cross Country Rookie of the Week for the second consecutive time and third time this season. The honor marks the fifth award King has won since bursting onto the scene this season. This week the rookie competed at the St. Joseph’s-Long Island Invitational in King’s Park, NY. Her time of 21:33 was good for 12th place out of the 146 runner field. The freshman finished first amongst all CUNY runners. King’s effort helped the Bloodhounds to an 8th place finish in the 18 team field.

 

CUNYAC/U.S. Army Men’s Cross Country Athlete of the Week

Avery Sternglass, CCNY

Sophomore/Brooklyn, NY/Xavier

Avery Sternglass has been announced the CUNYAC/US Army Men's Cross Country Athlete of the Week. The Brooklyn native ran in the CTC Cross Country Championships in Sewell, NJ. The sophomore would place 15th in the 8000 meter run with a time of 28:20.7. His effort would help the Beavers finish sixth among the nine team field.

 

CUNYAC/U.S. Army Men’s Cross Country Rookie of the Week

John Aiken, Hunter

Freshman/Huntington Station, NY/Walt Whitman

John Aiken has been announced the CUNYAC/US Army Men's Cross Country Rookie of the Week. The runner has won three Athlete of the Week awards but this marks his first Rookie of the Week victory. The freshman ran in the CTC Cross Country Championships in Sewell, NJ. In the 8000 meter run, Aiken ran a 28:10.28 and finished in 10th place out of 90 runners. He would finish first amongst all CUNY competition and help the Hawks to a fifth place finish out of nine teams.
