Wisconsin Lutheran's Alex Merbach has been named the Northern Athletics Conference Men's Basketball Student-Athlete of the Week for games of February 6-12.
Merbach (Kaukauna, Wis.) averaged 29.0 points and 7.0 rebounds per game last week for the Warriors (5-18, 4-11 NAC), who lost two road games by a combined six points.
The senior forward became the 18th player in program history to score at least 1,000 career points after he poured in a career-high 39 points on Wednesday against Marian. The 39-point performance ranks fourth in program history for most points scored in a single game.
Merbach followed his career-high performance with a game-high 19 points on Saturday at Edgewood.
For the week, Merbach shot 63 percent (22-for-35) from the floor and 86 percent (12-for-14) from the free-throw line.

Concordia Chicago's Bobbie May has been named the Northern Athletics Conference Women's Basketball Student-Athlete of the Week for games of February 6-12.
May (Sandusky, Mich.) scored a game-high 18 points in CUC's 61-50 win over MSOE on Saturday to clinch a NAC Tournament berth. She shot over 57 percent from the floor and was 10-of-11 from the free-throw line in the victory.
On the week, May averaged 17.5 points, 5.0 assists and 2.0 steals per game while shooting 50 percent from the field and 82 percent from the charity stripe for the Cougars (8-15, 6-10 NAC).

Edgewood's Edwin Mendoza has been named the Northern Athletics Conference Men's Tennis Student-Athlete of the Week for events of February 6-12.
Mendoza's (Rockford, Ill.) first-career win clinched the Eagles' (1-5 overall) first dual match victory of the season.
With the dual match tied, 4-4, the rookie defeated his opponent from Martin Luther (6-1, 7-5) in the No. 4 singles slot to secure the 5-4 win for the Eagles.
Earlier in the day, Mendoza and partner Eric Gavinski won their first-career doubles match, 8-1, at the No. 3 spot.

Wisconsin Lutheran's Travis Turnquist and MSOE's Emily Dieringer were named the Northern Athletics Conference Men's and Women's Indoor Track & Field Student-Athletes of the Week for events of February 6-12.
Turnquist (Madison, Wis.) placed fourth out of 29 competitors in the 200-meter dash with a new school-record time of 22.85 seconds at the UW-Platteville Invitational this past weekend.
The rookie also ran the anchor leg of the Warriors' 4x400-meter relay team that broke the school record with their finishing time of 3:38.30 that placed fifth place out of 15 teams in the event.
He rounded out the day with the 60-meter dash and recorded a time of 7.14, good for seventh place out of 44 competitors.
Dieringer (Port Washington, Wis.) took the top spot in the 200-meter dash with a time of 26.56 -- which is her best mark of her career -- at the UW-Platteville Invitational.
The senior also won the 60-meter hurdles at 9.49 seconds and came in seventh in the pole vault with a mark of 2.9 meters.
The award marks Dieringer's fourth this season and second straight.
