Northern Athletics Conference Weekly Awards Announced

Men's Basketball: Sharp Shooter Harris Scores Weekly Award

Marian's Jeff Harris has been named the Northern Athletics Conference Men's Basketball Student-Athlete of the Week for games of January 23-29.

Harris (Calumet Park, Ill.) scored 26 points as the Sabres (7-12, 4-7 NAC) knocked off North Division leader Edgewood at home, 70-69, on Wednesday in the team's only game of the week.

The junior guard missed his first shot of the contest, but went on to make 10-straight baskets, including four 3-pointers to finish 10-for-11 from the floor. Additionally, he added four rebounds and a pair of assists in the upset victory.

Women's Basketball: Johnson's Milestone, Double-Doubles Earn Weekly Award

Wisconsin Lutheran's Rachel Johnson has been named the Northern Athletics Conference Women's Basketball Student-Athlete of the Week for games of January 23-29.

Johnson (Milwaukee, Wis.), who averaged 14.0 points and 11.7 rebounds per game, posted a pair of double-doubles in the Warriors' (16-3, 13-0 NAC) 3-0 week.

The senior forward put up 10 points and 13 rebounds in a 73-49 victory over Marian on Tuesday, and posted her second double-double of the week with 16 points and 14 rebounds in a 83-41 win against Aurora on Saturday.

In Saturday's win, Johnson became the 14th player in program history to score at least 1,000 career points with her game-high 16 points.

Indoor Track & Field: Savard, Heller Earn Weekly Track & Field Awards

Concordia Wisconsin's Mark Savard and MSOE's Amanda Heller were named the Northern Athletics Conference Men's and Women's Indoor Track & Field Student-Athletes of the Week for events of January 23-29.

Savard (Hugo, Minn.) set personal bests in three events at the Tadd Metzger Invitational on Friday for the Falcons. The sophomore scored times of 7.09 seconds in the 55-meter dash and 22.55 in the 200-meter dash, and a mark of 5.45 meters in the long jump.

Heller (New Holstein, Wis.) broke the MSOE school record in the mile run with a time of 5:37.51 at the Spartan Open, three seconds better than the previous mark. The senior also placed second in the 3,000-meter run with a time of 11:28.37 for the Raiders.
