Men's Basketball: Lakeland's Ward Lands Weekly Award

Lakeland's Justin Ward has been named the Northern Athletics Conference Men's Basketball Student-Athlete of the Week for games of January 16-22.

Ward (Wisconsin Dells, Wis.) shot over 60 percent from the floor and led the Muskies to a 2-1 record on the week.

Last Tuesday against Concordia Wisconsin, Ward scored a game-high 28 points and snagged 10 rebounds for his second double-double of the season. He also had a career-high five blocks which he matched on Thursday against Wisconsin Lutheran.

In Thursday's contest the sophomore forward scored 22 points and had seven boards, on a 10-for-16 night from the floor.

On Saturday against Aurora, Ward set a career-high in points (29), rebounds (18) and field goals made (13). 

For the week he averaged 26.3 points, 11.7 rebounds and 3.6 blocks per game for the Muskies (13-4, 7-2 NAC).

Women's Basketball: Maranatha's Peterson Collects Weekly Award

Maranatha's Laci Peterson has been named the Northern Athletics Conference Women's Basketball Student-Athlete of the Week for games of January 16-22.

Peterson (Chillicothe, Ill.) was a factor for the Crusaders (9-4, 4-6 NAC) on both the offensive and defensive ends of the floor in a 2-1 week.

The sophomore center tallied 51 points and 20 blocks in the three games. Her best game of the week came in a 73-68 victory at Benedictine where she was a block shy of her first-career triple-double with 15 points, 12 rebounds and nine blocked shots.

On the week she averaged 17.0 points, 9.3 rebound, 6.7 blocks and 3.0 assists per game.

Indoor Track & Field: Davis, Dieringer Honored With Weekly Awards

Concordia Chicago's Merrell Davis and MSOE's Emily Dieringer were named the Northern Athletics Conference Men's and Women's Indoor Track & Field Student-Athletes of the Week for events of January 16-22.

Davis (Milwaukee, Wis.) won both the long jump (6.82 meters) and the triple jump (13.66 meters) at the Dick Pond Invitational at Lewis University on Friday. He also placed second in the 55-meter dash with a time of 6.61 seconds.

At the UW-Whitewater Invitational on Saturday, Dieringer (Saukville, Wis.) placed third in both the 200-meter dash (27.15) and the 60-meter hurdles (9.84), while placing fifth in the pole vault (2.91 meters) for 16 of the Raiders' 34 points.

This was the second-straight weekly award for Dieringer.
