Aurora's Scott Laskowski has been named the Northern Athletics Conference Men's Basketball Student-Athlete of the Week for games of January 9-15.
Laskowski (Bloomington, Ind.) averaged a double-double on the week --23.0 points, 13.5 rebounds -- and led the Spartans (8-6, 4-2 NAC) to a pair of conference victories.
In AU's 67-58 victory over Dominican, the sophomore forward led the Spartans with 31 points and 18 rebounds, which included seven offensive boards, and added four blocked shots in the contest. In the 65-52 win at Maranatha, he scored 15 points on 6-of-10 shooting, and added nine rebounds and three assists.

MSOE's Carol Cayo has been named the Northern Athletics Conference Women's Basketball Student-Athlete of the Week for games of January 9-15.
Cayo (Lake Mills, Wis.) had a pair of double-doubles on the week and collected her 1,000th-career rebound in a victory on Tuesday at Rockford, becoming the first NAC player to surpass 1,000 rebounds.
On the week the senior center averaged 20.5 points, 14.0 rebounds, 4.5 steals and 2.0 assists per game, while shooting nearly 70 percent (16-of-23) from the floor for the Raiders (9-5, 6-2 NAC).

Edgewood's Grant Mickesh and MSOE's Emily Dieringer were named the Northern Athletics Conference Men's and Women's Indoor Track & Field Student-Athletes of the Week for events of January 9-15.
Mickesh (Chippewa Falls, Wis.) won the mile run, and set a person best while doing so, at the Sol Butler Invitational on Saturday. His time of 4 minutes, 33.82 seconds was more than 8 seconds in front of the runner-up finishers, and shaved 5 seconds off his personal best. Additionally the junior set a personal record in the 3,000-meter run with a time of 9:19.99, taking 11 seconds off that mark.
Dieringer (Saukville, Wis.) win the 200-meter dash with a time of 27.08 seconds at the Carthage Private College Invitational last weekend. Additionally, the senior finished second in the 55-meter hurdles with a mark of 8.91 seconds, and sixth in the pole vault at 3.03 meters.
