ROYAL OAK, Mich. – The Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association has named Alma’s Daniel Biggs and Albion’s Shea Williams its Athletes of the Week in swimming and diving for meets through January 14.
Men’s Swimming and Diving
Biggs, a freshman from Midland (Dow HS), won two events and swam on two winning relays Saturday in leading the Scots to their first MIAA dual meet victory of the season over Albion. He won the 200-yard freestyle by more than three seconds in a time of 1:47.74 and captured the 100 butterfly in :54.43. He also posted the fastest butterfly split of the meet on the Scots’ winning medley relay and swam the lead leg on Alma’s 200 freestyle relay to close out the meet.
Women’s Swimming and Diving
Williams, a sophomore from Traverse City (West HS), won three events and swam on a winning relay Saturday in leading the Britons to a home dual meet win over Alma. She won both the 100-yard (1:05.89) and 200-yard backstroke (2:22.11), and also took first in the 200 individual medley in 2:24.14. She also was first to the wall on the lead leg of the 200 medley relay as she led Albion to a first-place finish.
