Maine Maritime Routs Lyndon

CASTINE, Maine – Junior attack, Tom Houle (Manchester, N.H.) scored a team-season high six goals and tacked on two assists as Maine Maritime routed an injury-depleted Lyndon State squad 20-2 in North Atlantic Conference (NAC) lacrosse on Saturday. Three other Mariners (3-5, 3-1 NAC) recorded three goals and three assists in the win. Maine Maritime improved to 6-0 in the series with the Hornets (2-3, 2-2 NAC).

Houle finished his first hat trick before the first quarter was over as Maine Maritime jumped out to a 5-0 after 15 minutes. Brian Corain (Berwick, Maine), Andrew DiSalvo (Glastonbury, Conn.) and Bronson Guimond (Portland, Maine) each recorded a hat trick and three assists in the win. DiSalvo's third assist of the day makes him the first Mariner pile up 100 helpers in his career. Nick Snelling (Colchester, Vt.) and Nick Betti (Upper Saddle River, N.J.) each had three point afternoons. Snelling had a goal and two assists, while Betti posted a pair of goals and assisted on another.

Gavin Cote (Arundel, Maine) stopped seven shots in 51:07 of work for the victory. His counterpart, Matt Reynolds (New Fairfield, Conn.) made 22 saves. The Mariners outshot their guests 66-16.

Ryan Brown (St. Johnsbury, Vt.) scored both of the Hornets' goals. Dan Randall (Delmar, N.Y.) assisted on the first.

Maine Maritime returns to action next weekend with NAC games at Green Mountain and Husson. Lyndon State hosts Johnson State on Tuesday afternoon in NAC play.
