Quakers Rally For 17-16 Women's Lacrosse Win at Berry
ROME, Ga. – Kathryn Carella's goal with 52 seconds left in regulation gave visiting Guilford College a 17-16 lacrosse win at Berry College in both teams' season-opener.
Carella's only goal of the game capped a wild comeback in which Guilford (1-0) scored three times in the final 2:33. The contest featured six ties and six lead changes.
Elizabeth Flatt scored on a free-position shot with 4:30 left to give the Vikings (0-1) a 16-14 edge. Guilford trimmed the deficit to one on E'leyna Garcia's fourth goal of the game at the 2:33 mark. Summer Frazier's fourth score of the day tied the match with 1:34 left and she also fed Carella with the winning score less 42 seconds later.
Garcia, Frazier and rookie Eleanora Keene each scored four goals and one assist. Teammate Lily Colley finished with three scores and four assists for seven points in her first Guilford game.
Flatt and Jenny Miller both scored five goals for Berry.
Guilford is slated to play the University of the South Sunday (2/19) at Berry.
