SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – Senior forward Mike Kaselouskas (East Longmeadow, MA) scored the winning goal 3:53 into overtime to lead the Western New England men's hockey team to a 2-1 victory over Framingham State Thursday night (Jan. 5) at Smead Arena.
The Golden Bears raised their record to 7-3 after returning to action for the first time since December 8. The Rams fall to 1-7-2.
The Rams took a 1-0 when lead when freshman forward Ryan McDonald (Anchorage, AK) scored at 10:25 of the opening period with an assist from freshman forward Brendan McCarron (Millbury, MA).
The Golden Bears tied the contest on a goal by senior forward Kory Grahl (San Diego, CA) at the 9:31 mark of the second period. Kaselouskas and freshman forward Brandon Stroud (Clarksville, IL) had the assists.
WNE sophomore goalie Eric Sorenson (Fairport, NY) compiled 26 saves while sophomore goalie Nicholas Cafrelli (San Jose, CA) turned away 35 shots for Framingham State.
