ROYAL OAK, Mich. – The Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association has named Calvin’s Elizabeth Counsell and Andrew Krafft its Swimmer/Diver of the Week for meets through December 3.
Women’s Swimming and Diving
Counsell, a junior from Indianapolis, Ind. (Heritage Christian HS), won the 100-yard breaststroke at the Calvin Invitational over the weekend with an NCAA provisional qualifying time of 1:03.62. She also finished second in the 200 breaststroke in 2:21.58, with also was a provisional qualifying time for the NCAA meet. She also swam a :29.06 split on the breaststroke leg of the 200 medley relay and led off Calvin’s 800 freestyle relay team with an opening leg of 1:57.55.
Men’s Swimming and Diving
Krafft, a sophomore from Fort Wayne, Ind. (Homeschooled), won both diving events at the Calvin Invitational. He won the 1-meter diving competition with an NCAA provisional score of 515.65 points. A day later, he was again victorious, winning the men’s 3-meter competition with another NCAA provisional score of 540.90 points. Krafft was the only double event winner from the MIAA at the Calvin invite, which featured four MIAA schools.
