Calvin’s Kamp, Gordon Named MIAA Players of the Week in Volleyball

ROYAL OAK, Mich.  – The Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association has named Calvin middle hitter Rebecca Kamp its Player of the Week and Calvin defensive specialist Kelly Gordon its Specialty Player of the Week for matches played through November 5.

 

Player of the Week

Kamp, a senior from Orland Park, Ill. (Chicago Christian HS), had 14 kills in 17 attempts for a hitting percentage of .765, a Van Noord Arena record, as the Knights swept Hope in the championship match of the MIAA tournament. She finished with 22 kills and eight blocks for the tournament. Kamp is being honored as Player of the Week for the second time this season and eighth time in her career.

 

Specialty Player of the Week

Gordon, a junior from Caledonia (Grand Rapids South Christian HS), played a key role on defense with 28 digs in two matches as Calvin won the MIAA tournament. She had 11 digs in a semifinal win over Trine, then had 17 digs in the championship match against Hope. Gordon is being honored as Specialty Player of the Week for the first time in her career.
