WOMEN’S CROSS COUNTRY
FEMALE RUNNER OF THE WEEK – Salve Regina University senior Caroline Norton topped a field of 103 runners in the Commonwealth Coast Conference Cross Country Championship. She finished with a 6K time of 23:25 and helped the Seahawks win the Championship and end CCC foe Roger Williams’ 11-year reign of CCC Champions. Norton was honored as CCC Female Runner of the Year for her efforts.
FEMALE ROOKIE OF THE WEEK – Roger Williams University freshman Jamie Wandzilak finished 10th out of 103 runners in the CCC Cross Country Championship with a 6K time of 24:51. The Hawks placed 3rd out of eight CCC teams.
MALE RUNNER AND ROOKIE OF THE WEEK – Roger Williams University freshman Kevin Terbush placed first among 62 runners in the CCC Cross Country Championship. He finished with an 8K time of 27:43 to help the Hawks claim the team’s 11th consecutive CCC Championship title.
FIELD HOCKEY
OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK – Nichols College junior back/midfielder Emily Widdison (Greenfield, Mass.) enjoyed a stellar individual week and collected12 points in a 1-2 week for the Bison. Her most impressive performance came in a close 5-4 triumph over CCC foe Western New England, in which she netted four goals, including three in a row to help the Bison rally from a 4-1 deficit and win the game. She tallied two more goals on the week against the top two teams in the league, including the lone goal in a 2-1 loss to UNE and a goal in a 3-2 loss to Endicott.
DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK – Endicott College junior goalkeeper Taylor Teixeira (Exeter, N.H.) collected a pair of wins in a 2-0 week for the Gulls. She opened the week making three saves while blanking CCC opponent Western New England 3-0, and went on to tally another three saves in a tight 3-2 victory over Nichols to help the Gulls clinch the #1 seed in the upcoming CCC Championship tournament.
ROOKIE OF THE WEEK – Endicott College freshman forward Emily Sawchuck (Cumberland, Mass.) was a key contributor in each of the Gulls contests last week. In a 3-0 victory over Western New England, she posted two goals to record her fourth multi-goal game of the season. She went on to net another goal in a 3-2 win against Nichols College.
WOMEN’S SOCCER
OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK – Roger Williams University senior forward Laurin Pendleton (Southwick, Mass.) posted eight points in a 2-0 week for the Hawks. She opened the week netting a goal in a 4-0 shutout of cross-state opponent Johnson & Wales. Pendleton went on to collect her fifth career hat trick in a 6-2 CCC quarterfinal victory over Nichols. The hat trick brought put her at the 53 goal mark to become the second player in program history to collect 50+ goals, and is only three away from the record.
DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK – Salve Regina University sophomore goalkeeper Jacqueline McPherson (Mansfield, Mass.) posted a goals against average of 0.45 and collected 13 saves in her first two starts of the season in a 2-0 week for the Seahawks. She opened the week with a 2-0 blank sheet against Johnson & Wales, and made nine saves. She went on to make another four saves in a 2-1 triumph over CCC foe Eastern Nazarene to help the Seahawks advance to the semifinals of the CCC Championship.
DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK – Western New England sophomore goalkeeper Victoria Trezise (Islip, N.Y.) collected 10 saves with a goals against average of 1.8 in a 0-1-1 week for the Golden Bears. In a quarterfinal CCC Championship Contest against #1 University of New England, she made four saves through double-overtime play, sending the contest into penalty kicks. In the shootout, each team netted a pair of PK’s to tie the score 2-2, but Trezise made a clutch save on UNE’s third attempt, which helped the Golden Bears advance to the semifinal round on penalty kicks 4-2. Earlier in the week, she made six saves in a tough 3-1 loss to #19 Springfield.
ROOKIE OF THE WEEK – Roger Williams University freshman midfielder Kristin Tetreault (Tolland, Conn.) tallied six points to help the Hawks to a 2-0 week. Against non-conference opponent Johnson & Wales she had a foot in three of the team’s four goals in a 4-0 win. She went on to net her final goal of the week in a 6-2 quarterfinal victory over #7 Nichols to move onto to the semifinal round of the CCC Championship.
MEN’S SOCCER
OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK – Western New England senior midfielder Shawn Fitzpatrick (Burnt Hills, N.Y.) scored the lone goal in each of the Golden Bear’s contests, including a 1-0 win at Gordon to secure an unbeaten CCC record (9-0) and the top seed in the CCC Championship tournament, followed by a 1-0 quarterfinal victory over #8 University of New England.
DEFENSIVE PLAYER AND ROOKIE OF THE WEEK – University of New England freshman goalkeeper Aidan McParland (Brockville, Ontario) made 16 saves with a goals against average of 1.50 in a 1-1 week for the Nor’easters. He collected four saves in a 3-2 victory over Eastern Nazarene to help the team clinch the #8 seed in the CCC Championship Tournament. He went on to post a season-high 12 stops in the 1-0 quarterfinal setback at top-seeded Western New England.
VOLLEYBALL
OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK – Endicott College senior setter Sarah Allshouse (Berthoud, Colo.) helped the Gulls earn the #2 seed in the upcoming CCC Championship tournament in a 2-1 week. She averaged 9.20 assists, 3.00 digs, and 0.30 service aces per set to go along with a hitting percentage of .400. Allshouse opened the week chipping in 23 assists in a tough three-set match to regional power Bowdoin. She went on to record a hitting percentage of .500 with 34 assists and 10 digs in a 3-0 win against CCC foe Wentworth, and helped the Gulls secure the #2 with a 3-1 triumph over Salve Regina, hitting .400 with week highs in assists (35) and digs (15).
OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK – Roger Williams University senior outside hitter Marybeth Torpey (Quincy, Mass.) posted back to back double-doubles in a pair of CCC victories to help lead the Hawks to an untainted 8-0 record regular season record to clinch the top-seed in the upcoming league championship. Torpey was equally impressive on offense and defense as she averaged 3.67 kills per set and 3.89 digs per set to go along with a hitting percentage of .266. In a matchup of unbeatens, Torpey recorded 16 kills with a week high 22 digs to help the Hawks to a 3-2 triumph. She closed out the regular season with 17 kills, 13 digs, and hit .341 in a 3-1 win against University of New England.
LIBERO OF THE WEEK – Endicott College junior Ashley Norley (Sudbury, Mass.) averaged 4.80 digs and 0.30 services aces per set in a 2-1 week for the Gulls. She posted double digit digs in each of her contests tallying 28 on the week, and had a near-perfect serving percentage, making only one error over 10 sets. Her best performance of the week came in a 3-1 win over Salve Regina, in which she recorded 19 digs and a perfect serving percentage of 1.000, and helped secure the #2 seed in the upcoming CCC tournament.
LIBERO OF THE WEEK – Roger Williams junior Kelsee Loche (Millis, Mass.) helped Roger Williams to a 2-0 week. In a pair of league victories over Salve Regina and University of New England she helped lead the Hawks defense, posting 23 and 21 digs, respectively, while holding opposing offenses to a 0.123 hitting percentage on the week. The Hawks secured the #1 seed with a 3-1 victory over UNE.
ROOKIE OF THE WEEK – Salve Regina University freshman setter Taylor Violet (Tiverton, R.I.) had a solid individual week against the top two seeds in the conference. She averaged 7.56 assists, 3.11 digs, and 1.11 kills per set to go along with a .300 hitting percentage last week. She posted 68 assists, 28 digs and 10 kills on the week.
