ROYAL OAK, Mich. – The Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association has named Calvin’s Shelby Cloyd and Olivet’s Brock Jackson its Swimmer/Diver of the Week for meets through October 29.
Women’s Swimmer/Diver of the Week
Cloyd, a junior from Kalamazoo (Plainwell HS), won the 1,000 freestyle by nearly five seconds in a dual meet against NCAA Division II power Grand Valley State University Friday. Cloyd touched the wall in a time of 10:55.28. She also swam a 1:03.04 in the 100 butterfly and swam a :26.63 on the leadoff leg of Calvin’s 200 freestyle relay.
Men’s Swimmer/Diver of the Week
Jackson, a junior from Sturgis (Sturgis HS), won three events over the weekend as Olivet defeated MIAA rivals Hope and Albion during the Olivet Quad meet. He won the 100 freestyle in :47.59, the 200 freestyle in 1:46.53 and the 200 individual medley in 1:59.01. Jackson also swam on the Comets’ winning teams in the 200 freestyle relay and 400 freestyle relay.
