Regals Win Fourth Straight Over Athenas
CLAREMONT, Calif. - Trailing Claremont-Mudd Scripps 1-0, and down 9-1 in the second set, Cal Lutheran rallied to not only win that set, but complete its come-from-behind effort by defeating the Athenas 27-29, 25-22, 25-17, 19-25, 17-15 in Friday night's road match.
Box score and game statistics were unavailable at the time of release.
With the set score tied at two apiece, and Cal Lutheran leading the decisive set 13-9, CMS would score the next six straight points to wrestle the lead away from the Regals.
With a one point advantage bouncing from one bench to the other as the match progressed, it was the Regals who were able to hold serve, and pull away to earn their fourth consecutive victory over CMS.
Cal Lutheran (9-4, 2-0 SCIAC) will compete in its second match in as many days when the Regals return to Gilbert Arena Saturday night to face Redlands (1-8, 1-1 SCIAC). Saturday night's match will begin at 6 p.m.
