Junior Chris Redington (Tully, NY/Tully) equaled a career high with eight points as the Keuka College's men's lacrosse team won its third straight North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) contest, 19-4 over Hilbert College Saturday afternoon at the Jephson Community Athletic Complex.
Redington, an attacker, scored six goals with two assists to tie his career-high for points in a game. He has scored eight points in a game three times in his Keuka career, but Saturday's dominant performance was the first eight-point effort for Redington since a six-goal, two-assist effort in a win over Penn State-Abington on April 11, 2010.
Senior Gino Marcello (Rochester, NY/Churchville-Chili) added four goals, sophomore Mike Donals (Livonia, NY/Livonia) added three goals and freshman Derek Pfeiffer (Lee Center, NY/Rome Free Academy) scored a career-high two goals for the Storm (5-4, 3-1 NEAC).
Keuka jumped all over the Hawks (4-5, 3-2 NEAC), scoring the game's first 12 goals en route to a 12-0 halftime lead. Redington and Marcello scored four times while Donals added two goals during the half for Keuka.
Sophomores Nick Judge (Clifton Springs, NY/Midlakes) and Kenny Cannon (East Syracuse, NY/East Syracuse-Minoa) and freshmen Cory Gray (Seneca Castle, NY/Midlakes) and Randy Gyergyek (Elma, NY/Iroquois) each added goals for the Storm. For Cannon, Gray and Gyergyek, it was their first goals of the season.
The Storm went 6-for-8 with the man-advantage, while holding Hilbert scoreless in four man-up situations.
Freshman Eric Saltrelli (Webster, NY/Webster Schroeder), the reigning NEAC Defensive Player of the Week, made five saves in recording a scoreless first half. Freshman Scott Thielman (Amherst, NY/Amherst) made four saves over 26 minutes of second-half action while sophomore Cameron Gormel (Rochester, NY/Gates Chili) did not allow a goal in four minutes for Keuka.
Sophomore Zachary Koczent (Geneva, NY/Geneva) went 18-for-20 on faceoffs and scooped up 10 groundballs while classmate Scott Miller (Penn Yan, NY/Penn Yan) and freshen Anthony Luppino (Penn Yan, NY/Penn Yan) and Steve Ruggles (Corning, NY/Corning) each added five groundballs for the Storm.
Keuka returns to action with a 7 p.m. NEAC home game Wednesday night vs. SUNYIT.
