Washington and Lee Claims 14-5 Men's Lacrosse Win at Guilford

GREENSBORO, N.C. – Scott Meehan scored three goals and an assist in visiting Washington and Lee University's 14-5 Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) lacrosse win at Guilford College Wednesday night.

The Generals (5-4, 1-1 ODAC) scored the game's first three goals and took a 7-3 halftime lead when Meehan converted a Drew Kenavan feed with 5:20 left in the second quarter.

Guilford's Taylor Teodosio opened the second-half scoring with a man-up goal 1:37 into the third quarter, but Washington and Lee reeled off the next seven goals before the Quakers' Duncan Fitzgerald scored with 46 seconds left in regulation. The Generals' Cameron Dabir tallied twice and Sam Mott added a goal and an assist during the 7-0 second-half spurt.

Dabir was one of four multiple-goal scorers for Washington and Lee, which had nine different students dent the twine. Mac Means and Will Garrett also scored twice for the Generals. Washington and Lee gained momentum and maintained possession throughout the game thanks to Jared Mitchell 's 11 victories in 18 face-offs. He also picked up a game-high seven ground balls, which helped the Generals to a 34-22 edge. Washington and Lee outshot the Quakers, 41-23, and took 15 of the contest's first 17 shots. Generals' goalie Patrick Jennings made five saves and yielded four goals in over 52 minutes of work.

Five different Quakers scored goals, including Greg Nash and Chase Clausen, who also notched assists. Rookie midfielders Juquan Tellis and A.J. Oliver both picked up a team-high four ground balls. Rookie goaltender Thomas Deane made eight of his career-high 13 saves in the first quarter.
