Royals Split Matches With Lebanon Valley, Gallaudet In Regular-Season Finale Saturday At Long Center

SCRANTON, Pa.—The University of Scranton volleyball team split a pair of matches in its regular-season finale today at the Long Center.

Behind a 13-kill, 17-dig effort from freshman outside hitter Julia Crilly (Rochester, NY/Aquinas Institute), the Royals held off Lebanon Valley, 3-2.  Scranton, which bounced back to win the fifth and deciding set 15-12 after losing the fourth set 25-8, also received 10 kills and 17 digs from junior outside hitter Jenell McFadden (Springfield, Pa./Merion Mercy Academy), 24 digs from junior libero Marissa Every (East Norriton, Pa./Mt. St. Joseph Academy), and eight kills and five total blocks from sophomore middle hitter Kelly Nolan (Pearl River, NY/Albertus Magnus).

The Royals didn't fare as well against Gallaudet, which entered the match ranked seventh in their respective region, losing 3-0.  McFadden led the way with seven kills and Crilly finished with five kills and eight digs.

McFadden's 17 kills today leaves her two shy of 800 for her career.  Her double-double in kills and digs in the first match today against Lebanon Valley was her ninth of the season, while Crilly's was her tenth.

Scranton, now 17-15, will host Moravian College in a Landmark Conference quarterfinal match this Wednesday, November 2, beginning at 7:00 p.m. in the Long Center.  The winner advances to face top-seeded Juniata College in a semifinal match on Saturday, November 5, at the Kennedy Sports & Recreation Center in Huntingdon, Pennsylvania.
