Stoermer Helps RIC Smack Southern Maine, 3-0

Gorham, Maine-Rhode Island College middle hitter Marina Stoermer (Seattle, WA) posted a match-high 12 kills to lead the Anchorwomen to a 3-0 win over the University of Southern Maine Huskies in a Little East Conference women's volleyball match at Hill Gymnasium

 

Winners of three of its last four matches, Rhode Island College improves to 15-10 with the win and 2-3 in the Little East Conference. With the loss, Southern Maine stumbles to 0-19 and 0-5 in league competition.

 

Stoermer helped the Anchorwomen defeat the Huskies decisively 25-8, 25-5 and 25-13. She added two digs and a service ace. Junior outside hitter Breanna Boyer (West Greenwich, RI) added nine kills and a pair of aces, while freshman middle hitter Lauren Plante (Burrillville, RI) chipped in with sevens kills and an ace.  Junior setter Jessica Ho (Seekonk, MA) effectively orchestrated the Rhode Island College offense with 26 assists.

 

Sophomore setter Madalyn Terry (Kennebunkport, ME) led the Huskies with four kills, four digs and five assists.  Freshman Nicole Hansen (Biddeford, ME) added two kills, six digs and four assists. 

 

In upcoming action, Rhode Island College will continue Little East Conference action at home against Western Connecticut on Tuesday, Oct. 25 (7 p.m.).
