Gators Split Two on Day One of Power Weekend

WOOSTER, Ohio - The Allegheny women's volleyball squad would go into the final NCAC power weekend looking to climb back into the playoff race after splitting their first two matches on Saturday.

The first match of the day saw the Gators face a Hiram team that they pushed to the brink just two weeks ago in a classic five setter. Sunday afternoons match, unfortunately, was much different than the one played on October 4. Allegheny did not have a good match offensivley as the Terriors would come away with the win in straight sets.

Senior Audra Batdorff paced Allegheny with six kills, while sophomore Madie Hudac had four kills to go along with 14 assists. Senior Winnie Wong contributed 19 digs, as the Gators would quickly turn their attention to the Yeowomen of Oberlin.

Allegheny's final match of the day would go much better than the first, as the Gators would sweep the Yeowomen in straight sets 25-16, 25-12, 25-20.

Allegheny's offense got back on track in a big way as senior Caitin Rothman slammed home a team high 15 kills, and Batdorff added 12 more to her total as the Gators would amass a .310 hitting percentage. Hudac would dish out 32 assists, and Wong would add 20 digs in the win as Allegheny would improve to 10-18 overall, and 3-9 in NCAC play.

The Gators are off until Wednesday, when they will travel to the campus of Oberlin College to take on the Yeowomen for the second time in four days. Tipoff is scheduled for 7:00 pm.
