Royals Continue Midseason Surge With Wins Over Wilkes, Hilbert Today

WILKES-BARRE, Pa.—Freshman outside hitter Julia Crilly (Rochester, NY/Aquinas Institute) combined for 25 kills and 23 digs in leading The University of Scranton to a pair of 3-0 victories over Wilkes University and Hilbert College Saturday afternoon at the Marts Center.

The Royals have now won four straight and seven of their last eight matches to improved to 12-9 on the season.

In the victory over Wilkes, junior setters Juli Woods (Wallingford, Pa./Strath Haven) and Emily Keim (Bethlehem, Pa./Liberty) combined for 27 assists and sophomore Michaela McCrudden (Fort Washington, Pa./Mt. St. Joseph Academy) finished with nine kills and seven digs.  The Royals also received 23 digs and three service aces—both match-highs—from junior libero Marissa Every (East Norriton, Pa./Mt. St. Joseph Academy).

Crilly led the way against Hilbert, posting her seventh 'double-double' of the season with 13 kills and 12 digs and McCrudden and freshman right-side hitter Jennifer Ryan (Wayne, NJ/Wayne Valley) combined for 11 kills.  The Royals also received a 21-assist performance from freshman setter Jennifer Coco (Cortlandt Manor, NY/Walter Panas).

Scranton will return to action next Thursday, October 13, against Marywood University at 7:00 p.m. at the Long Center.
