OBERLIN, OHIO -- The Baldwin-Wallace College volleyball team defeats Oberlin College in Straight Sets tonight (Wednesday, October 5, 2011) in a final non-conference match of the season.
With the win, the Yellow Jackets improve to 13-9 overall and Oberlin falls to 0-17.
B-W was led offensively by junior outside hitter Amanda Sawicki (Mentor/ Lake Catholic) with six kills. Sophomores Shannon Deleur (Olmsted Falls) and Colleen Bonacci (Stow/ Stow-Monroe Falls) followed Sawicki with four kills a piece. The offense was set up by a trio of Yellow Jackets including junior Jessica Stitts (Eastlake/ North) with 11 set assists, sophomore Emily Nagle (Columbia Station/ Columbia) and freshman Katie Primeau (Pemberville/ Eastwood) who each tallied eight.
Defensively, B-W was led by Deleur with eight digs, sophomore defensive specialist Taylor Burns (Tiffin/ Fostoria St. Wendelin) and junior defensive specialist Natalie Emmons (Ashland) each contributed six.
The Yellow Jackets will remain on the road this Saturday, October 8 when they will travel to Westerville to face the Cardinals of Otterbein University in an Ohio Athletic Conference match at 1:00 p.m. B-W will return to the friendly confines of the Ursprung Gymnasium on Tuesday, October 11 when they play host to Heidelberg University in an OAC match at 7:00 p.m.
