Boyer Slams 21 Winners as RIC Marches by Saints, 3-1

Boston, Mass.-Junior outside hitter Breanna Boyer (West Greenwich, RI) posted 21 kills and 11 digs as the Rhode Island College women's volleyball team defeated Emmanuel, 3-1, at the Jean Yawkey Center on Tuesday night.
 
The Saints jumped out to a quick 25-23 win in set one to open the match.  The Anchorwomen then rallied to take the next three sets, 25-15, 25-18 and 25-21.  The loss drops Emmanuel to 5-11 on the season, while RIC improves to 6-7 overall.
 
In addition to Boyer, rookie middle hitter Marina Stoermer (Seattle, WA) tallied 14 kills and 11 digs, while junior setter Jessica Ho (Providence, RI) dished out 42 assists to go along with her team-high 18 digs in the win.
 
Emmanuel was led by senior middle Rebecca Stanton (Quincy, MA), who notched 12 kills and 3 solo blocks.  Senior setter Kathryne Olsen (Fairhaven, MA) hit .474 with 9 kills in 19 swings, to go along with her 13 assists and 6 digs.  Senior outside Jenna Ross (Centerburg, OH) added 7 kills, 14 digs and 3 aces, while junior libero Yun-Ting Lee (Cambridge, MA) gathered a match-high 21 digs in the effort for the Saints.
 
In upcoming action, the Anchorwomen will host Salem State on Thursday, Sept. 29 (7 p.m.)
