Allegheny Drops Pitt-Bradford in Straight Sets

MEADVILLE, Pa. - The Allegheny women's volleyball team continued their winning ways Wednesday night, as they rolled over the Panthers of Pitt-Bradford 3-0 (25-18, 26-24, 25-19).

The Gators would control much of the first set, never really being tested from Pitt-Bradford.

The second set was a much different story. The Panthers jumped out to an early lead and looked to be cruising until Allegheny went on a surge behind the serving of senior Winnie Wong and company. After five straight points gave Allegheny the lead by two, the second set would turn into a back and forth affair. The Gators would finally take the set 26-24, to go up two games to zero.

The third set was also a tight battle throughout, as the Panthers would not concede the last set to Allegheny. However, the Gator offense was too much for Pitt-Bradford to handle, as Allegheny has now won four of its last five contests.

Senior Audra Batdorff led the Gators with 11 kills, and sophomore setter Madie Hudac added 24 assists, as Allegheny improves its record to 5-7 on the season. Next up for the Gators is a clash with some of the NCAC's best, as they travel to Gambier, Ohio this weekend to take on Depauw, Denison, Wittenberg, and Kenyon.
