Dragons Slay Royals, 3-1, Tuesday Evening

ONEONTA, NY—Freshman Julia Crilly and sophomores Michaela McCrudden  and Katie Newman combined for 31 kills, but it wasn't enough to keep The University of Scranton from dropping a 3-1 decision to Oneonta State University Tuesday evening.

Kacy Boburka led the Red Dragons, now 5-4, with 17 kills and 10 digs and Christina Fabiochi contributed 13 kills and 17 digs.  Oneonta State also received 23 digs from Jessica Zerega and 22 digs and 36 assists from setter Brittany Calvello.

The Royals, who had a two-match winning streak snapped to fall to 5-5, also received 12 digs from McCrudden, 10 from junior defensive specialist Marissa Every, and a combined 35 assists from juniors Juli Woods  and Emily Keim.

McCrudden's 'double-double' in kills and digs was her first of the season.

Scranton will return to action this Saturday, September 17, against Johns Hopkins University and Washington College in Chestertown, Maryland.
