Colonels drop hard-fought match to Mount St. Joseph 3-2

The Colonels, now 2-3 overall, opened the match with a 25-21 win in game one. The Lions (2-4) answered with wins in games two (26-24) and three (25-23), only to see Centre bounce back to force a game five with a 25-23 win in game four. Mount St. Joseph out-lasted the Colonels in game five winning 15-13 to win the match 3-2.

Sophomore Catherine Janszen (Cincinnati, Ohio) tallied 12 kills and 17 digs in the return to her hometown. Seniors Hannah Greer (Owensboro, Ky.) and Laura Hench (Lexington, Ky.) recorded 38 assists and 21 digs respectively, while sophomore Kim Lownds (Evergreen, Colo.) had 10 kills and sophomore Lydia Prevost (Knoxville, Tenn.) finished with eight blocks.

Centre will next head to Hanover, Ind. Saturday, Sept. 10 to participate in the Hanover Tournament. The Colonels will open against Maryville College at 11 a.m. followed by a match against Hanover at 1 p.m.
