Early Burst Propel Hamline VB Over Crown

They started fast and rarely slowed up all night. The HU volleyball team broke out of the gate in style, hitting .324 in their first set en route to a 3-0 victory over Crown Friday night at Hutton Arena. The Pipers weathered a late Storm rally to record a pair of 25-13 wins in the first two sets. In the third, HU never let up on the pedal, committing just three errors en route to a 25-8 win.

Morgen Coleman led a balanced attack with 10 kills and Gabby Robinson added nine. Coleman also had three service aces and tied with Maggie Gavic for the team lead in digs with 11. Robinson was also all over the floor with nine kills and eight digs. Megan Rubbelke continued her pace of setting up points with 31 assists and added 10 digs for good measure.

Hamline has now won four matches in a row and improved to 9-3 overall. They have little time to rest on their laurels. HU swings back into action Saturday, September 21 at Northwestern. The match begins at 4:00 p.m.
