The Centre College volleyball team opened the 2011 Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC) Tournament with a 3-0 loss to Rhodes College Friday, Nov. 4 in Jackson, Miss.

The Colonels, which rallied to defeat the Lynx 3-2 on September 24 after losing the first two games, were unable to repeat the feat this time around.

After falling 29-27 in a hard-fought first game, Centre lost game two 25-20 and game three 25-21 to fall to 17-17 overall on the season.

Senior Stephanie Woeste (Louisville, Ky.) paced the Colonels with 10 kills and three blocks. Senior Laura Hench (Lexington, Ky.) added eight kills and 16 digs, while senior Hannah Greer (Owensboro, Ky.) finished with 28 assists and eight digs.

Centre, the number seven seed entering the tournament, will next play 11th seeded Oglethorpe at 7 p.m. The Colonels defeated the Stormy Petrels twice this season, winning 3-0 on October 1 and 3-1 on October 22.
