RIC Defeats MCLA; Falls to Owls

Keene, N.H.--Senior outside hitter Courtney Lambrese (Cranston, RI) had a pair of double-doubles as the Rhode Island College women's volleyball team split a tri-match with Keene State and MCLA on Saturday.

RIC fell to host Keene State, 3-1 (25-14, 16-25, 15-25, 17-25) in a Little East Conference contest to open the day. The Anchormen then defeated MCLA, 3-1 (25-20, 25-27, 25-18, 25-17) in a non-conference contest to finish the day.

RIC vs. Keene State

• In the setback against host Keene State, Lambrese notched a double-double with a team-best 15 kills and 13 digs.

• Junior outside hitter Jillian Ward (Coventry, RI) also had a double-double with 11 kills and a team-best 20 digs, while senior setter Abigayl White (Coventry, RI) recorded 24 assists and five digs in the match for the Anchorwomen.

• Keene State was paced by senior outside hitter Rachel Lamica (Malone, NY) with a match-high 18 kills, seven digs and four blocks.

• Freshman setter Bailey Wilson (Moore Park, CA) had 40 assists and three digs for the Owls in the victory.


• RIC was led by Lambrese with a team-high 22 kills and 22 digs.

• Ward also had a double-double with 11 kills and 17 digs in the victory, while sophomore right side hitter Jacqueline Jutras (Foster, RI) recorded 11 kills and eight digs.

• White notched a double-double with 44 assists and 18 digs for the Anchorwomen.

• Sophomore outside hitter Sara LaFreniere (Becket, MA) paced MCLA with 10 kills and six digs.

• Freshman setter Natasha Stewart (North Andover, MA) notched 16 assists and 11 digs in the loss.


RIC vs. Keene State

• RIC registered a .062 (37-28-144) hitting percentage, while Keene State hit .185 (44-19-135) in the victory.

• The Anchorwomen totaled 66 digs and nine service aces in the setback.


• RIC registered a .130 (52-31-161) hitting percentage, while MCLA hit .006 (30-29-160).

• The Anchorwomen totaled 10 service aces and had 92 digs.


In upcoming action, Rhode Island College will resume Little East Conference action at home against UMass Dartmouth on Tuesday, Oct. 24 (7 p.m.).
