RIC Splits Tri-Match at Wentworth

Boston, Mass.-Junior outside hitter Jillian Ward (Coventry, RI) averaged 3.8 kills and 2.9 digs per set as the Rhode Island College women's volleyball team split a tri-match with Wentworth and Mass. Maritime on Saturday. RIC fell to host Wentworth, 3-1 (24-26, 25-23, 18-25, 17-25), in the opening match of the day, before rebounding to defeat Massachusetts Maritime, 3-0 (25-16, 25-15, 25-14), in the nightcap.

HOW IT HAPPENED

RIC vs. Wentworth

• In the setback against Wentworth, Ward notched a double-double with a team-best 17 kills and 15 digs.

• Senior outside hitter Courtney Lambrese (Cranston, RI) added 14 kills and six digs, while freshman libero Samantha Borges (Swansea, MA) totaled a team-best 16 digs.

• RIC sophomore middle blocker Jessica Brielmaier (West Greenwich, RI) notched six kills and two blocks, while senior setter Abigayl White (Coventry, RI) recorded 37 assists, eight digs and three kills.

• Wentworth was paced by sophomore outside hitter Leah Rogoz (Woodridge, IL) with 21 kills and 14 digs, while sophomore outside hitter Claire Quick (Mission Viejo, CA) notched a double-double with 10 kills and a match-high 24 digs in the victory.

• Sophomore setter Katie Clouse (Hudson Falls, NY) had 29 assists and eight digs for the Leopards.

RIC vs. Massachusetts Maritime

• RIC was led by Lambrese with a team-high 10 kills and one dig.

• Ward had eight kills, five digs and one block, while sophomore right side hitter Jacqueline Jutras (Foster, RI) recorded a team-best seven digs and 23 assists.

• White notched 14 assists for the Anchorwomen.

• Sophomore outside hitter Marie Harrison (Weymouth, MA) paced Massachusetts Maritime with nine kills and 10 digs.

• Sophomore setter Nicole Sheehan (Attleboro, MA) notched 17 assists in the loss for the Buccaneers.

RIC vs. Wentworth

• RIC registered a .230 (51-17-148) hitting percentage, while Wentworth hit .275 (57-16-149) in the victory.

• The Anchorwomen totaled 66 digs and nine service aces in the setback.

RIC vs. Massachusetts Maritime

• RIC registered a .163 (33-19-86) hitting percentage, while Massachusetts Maritime hit .027 (17-15-72).

• The Anchorwomen totaled 16 service aces and a 37-32 advantage in digs.
