Volleyball: Kelly has Career-High, Sagehens win Fourth Straight

CLAREMONT, Calif. – Isabel Kelly had a career-high 17 kills, and the Pomona-Pitzer Volleyball team found a way to win in a non-conference match-up against the Oberlin College Yeowomen Friday night.

Season Impact: The Sagehens win their fourth straight match and improve to 12-9 overall.

Oberlin falls to 7-13 overall.

Set Scores: 25-20, 27-25, 25-11, 22-25, 15-11

Kelly was on fire in the second set putting down six of her 17 kills, leading the Sagehens to an outstanding .478 hitting percentage in the set. The freshman ranks second on the team with 206 kills.

Sarah Gamble led Pomona-Pitzer defensively, finishing the game with seven total blocks. Kelly added four blocks of her own with Vicky-Marie Addo-Ashong and Julia Zwaal each contributing two.

Zwaal had 15 kills in the match, bringing her season total to 252. Addo-Ashong and Stephanie Suneach had solid games offensively, with both of them pouring in nine kills.

Jessica Finn turned in a season-high 41 assists and pitched in two kills.

Sophie Janssen had a game-high 23 digs.

Next Match: The Sagehens head across the road tomorrow to face Claremont-Mudd-Scripps in the second leg of the Sixth Street Rivalry. Game time is set for 4 p.m.
