New Paltz Women’s Soccer Ties Manhattanville, 0-0, in Double Overtime

PURCHASE, N.Y. – The State University of New York at New Paltz women's soccer team drew a 0-0 tie with Manhattanville College after two regulation halves and two overtime periods in a non-conference match up on Saturday afternoon.

New Paltz edged the Valiants (1-3-1), 19-17, in shots and held a 13-2 advantage in corner kicks.

Leading the offensive efforts for New Paltz were senior midfielder Sloane Lipshie (Port Jefferson Station, N.Y./Comsewogue), junior midfielder Danielle Grossi (Sayville, N.Y./Sayville), junior midfielder Gabriela Cabello (Hauppauge, N.Y./Smithtown West) and junior defender Monica Rouse (Amsterdam, N.Y./Amsterdam), all of whom fired off three shots. Senior midfielder Skye Kaler (Burnt Hills, N.Y./Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake) and senior midfielder Hannah Moran (Albany, N.Y./Albany) added two shots apiece. Junior goalkeeper Katelyn Cordero (Airmont, N.Y./Suffern) played the whole 110 minutes in the net, making four stops.

For Manhattanville, senior forward/midfielder Alexandra Carlbom tallied four shots while sophomore midfielder Joanna Karp, senior midfielder Melissa Barcia and sophomore forward Lauren Vallarelli each recorded three shots. Senior goalkeeper Dolores Diemicke collected 12 saves in goal for the Valiants.

The Hawks (1-6-2) move on to play SUNY Oswego on Friday, Sept. 23 at 3 p.m. in their first State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) contest.
