Devils finish 3rd in Clarion Tourney

FREDONIA, N.Y. -- Ryan Keller (East Aurora, N.Y./East Aurora) had a goal and an assist to lead Fredonia men's soccer past Baldwin Wallace, 3-1, on the second and final day of the home Blue Devil/Clarion Classic Tournament at University Stadium.

Keller, a senior midfielder, scored an unassisted goal in the ninth minute to put the Blue Devils on 1-0. After a goal by BW's Rafael Davalos evened the score in the 33rd minute, Keller set up junior defender David Trabold (Fairport, N.Y./Fairport) to break the tie and put Fredonia on top for good in the 60th minute.

Senior forward Parker Healy (East Aurora, N.Y./East Aurora) added an insurance goal in the 65th minute, with an assist from senior forward Jimmy Ritchie (East Aurora, N.Y./East Aurora).

Keller, who had a goal in Fredonia's 3-1 loss Friday to Houghton, and senior midfielder Bryan Sibble (Liverpool, N.Y./Cicero-North Syracuse), were named to the all-tournament team. Davalos and Connor Napier were BW's all-tourney selections.

Freshman goalkeeper Ty Bentham (Columbus, Ind./Columbus North) made nine saves in his first collegiate starting assignment. He had made one previous appearance in relief.

In the other men's Clarion Classic game Saturday, Buffalo State and Houghton played to a scoreless draw after two overtimes. Buffalo State earned the tournament title by virtue of its great goal-differential: plus-three compared to Houghton's plus-two.
