New Paltz Women’s Soccer Falls to No. 23 Ithaca, 5-0, in Final Day of Michelle Vargas-Robin Tournament

NEW PALTZ, N.Y. – The State University of New York at New Paltz women's soccer team concluded its fourth annual Michelle Vargas-Robin Tournament with a 5-0 loss to No. 23-ranked Ithaca College on Sunday afternoon at the South Turf Field.
 
The Bombers took the lead in the ninth minute as senior forward Megan Nash found the back of the net for a 1-0 advantage. Three different Ithaca players would extend the Bombers' lead to 4-0 at intermission before senior forward Jocelyn Ravesi capped off the win with her second goal of the game in the 47th minute.
 
Ithaca outshot the Hawks, 29-1, and held a 6-0 advantage in corner kicks.
 
Junior midfielder Jackie Donaldson-Hawkins (Huntington, N.Y./Harborfields) recorded one shot with one on goal. Freshman goalkeeper Angela Ratka (Farmington, N.Y./Victor) and junior goalkeeper Katelyn Cordero (Airmont, N.Y./Suffern) combined for a total of 13 saves in goal for the Hawks, with Ratka making four stops while Cordero tallied nine saves.
 
Senior forward Holly Nemiac totaled six shots for the Bombers while Nash recorded five shots. Sophomore goalkeeper Stacey DiGiorgio earned the win for Ithaca, making one stop in goal.
 
The Hawks (0-3) will head out on the road to play Ramapo College on Wednesday, Sept. 7 at 4 p.m.
