Ward’s Triple-Double Helps Lead Panthers to 3-2 Win

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Birmingham-Southern women's volleyball team pulled out a 3-2 thriller against St. Thomas (Minn.) Friday afternoon at the Emory Invitational.  Sophomore Marjorie Ward (Winter Park, Fla./Winter Park HS) had an epic start to the 2016 season finishing with a triple-double of 19 assists, 17 digs, and 15 kills.  She led the team in kills and digs.


Ward, along with fellow sophomore Jeneva Salter (Madison, Ala./Bob Jones HS) combined for over 40 percent of the team's kills.


Junior Rylee Segrest (Anniston, Ala./The Donoho School) finished with a team-high 34 assists.  And four Panthers picked-up double-digit dig numbers.


BSC (1-0) dropped the first two sets before regrouping and winning the next three.  The win was Head Coach Jeff White's 50th at Birmingham-Southern.


Their action continues tonight at 7 p.m. ET against St. Mary's (Ind.).
