TERRE HAUTE, IND. -- Hanover College relied on a balanced performance to top Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology 25-21, 25-21, 25-13 in the first round of the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Volleyball Tournament on Tuesday night at Hulbert Arena.
Rachel Regenauer and Sarah Hasewinkel led Hanover with 11 kills each. Molly Murphy added 19 assists, and Kylie Justus had a team-high 23 digs for the Panthers.
Senior Casey Levitt (Thousand Oaks, Calif./Westlake) capped her Rose-Hulman career with 10 kills to lead the Engineers. Freshman Morgan Dreyer (Batesville) and Sarah Jensen (Overland Park, Kan./Blue Valley Northwest) recorded 14 assists each, with senior Kate Dangel (Upper Arlington, Ohio) moving into third place in school history in career digs (1,604) with 24 in the match.
Senior Catherine Fiutem (Harrison, Ohio/Oldenburg Academy) added seven kills without an error, and freshman Katelyn Race (Columbia, Mo./Rock Bridge) contributed six kills and five digs to the effort.
The match marked the final career match for Dangel, Fiutem and Levitt, who capped their Rose-Hulman careers with 79 wins, four trips to the HCAC Tournament and one trip to the NCAA Division III Tournament.
Hanover advances to the HCAC Semifinal Round at Defiance College on Saturday at 2 p.m. Rose-Hulman finished the season with a 15-18 record.
