Volleyball Sweeps Anderson for Key HCAC Win

ANDERSON, IND. -- Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology relied on a set two rally to earn a sweep of Anderson University in Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference volleyball action on Wednesday night.

The Fightin' Engineers trailed 23-22 during a tight second set, but a match point kill from sophomore Sarah Jensen (Overland Park, Kan./Blue Valley Northwest) proved the difference in a 25-23 win.  Rose-Hulman earned the win by a 25-17, 25-23, 25-19 margin.

Senior Casey Levitt (Thousand Oaks, Calif./Westlake) led the Engineer offense with 10 kills.  Freshman Emily McLendon (Lexington, Ky./Henry Clay) added nine kills, and freshman Katelyn Race (Columbia, Mo./Rock Bridge) had eight.

Freshman Morgan Dreyer (Batesville) led the team with 24 assists and had seven kills.  Jensen contributed 17 assists and seven kills to the effort.

Defensively, senior Kate Dangel (Upper Arlington, Ohio) had a team-high 18 digs, Levitt had 12 and Jensen contributed 10.  McLendon led the blocking performance with one solo and four assists.

Rose-Hulman improved to 10-12 overall and 1-3 in HCAC play with the victory, while Anderson dropped to 6-13 and 1-2.  The Fightin' Engineers host Hanover on Saturday at 1 p.m. and Kalamazoo at 5 p.m. in the annual Dig Pink Match to raise funds for the Wabash Valley Breast Cancer Survivors Organization.
