NAC Field Hockey Weekly Honors

PLAYER OF THE WEEK

Kristen CapenHusson's Kristen Capen
(Jr, GK - Leeds, Maine)

Capen was named the Most Valuable Player of the 2011 North Atlantic Conference Field Hockey Championship, as she led the Eagles on their unlikely run to a third consecutive NAC title.

Capen saved 17 shots, including several breakaways in the overtime period to keep the Husson hopes alive as they eventually won the championship in penalty strokes over St. Joseph's College.

Earlier in the tournament, Capen came up big for the Eagles, putting forth a 16-save shutout in the Eagles' stunning 1-0 upset over #1 seeded Castleton and recording a career-high 23 saves in the quarterfinal win over the University of Maine at Farmington.

In total, Capen posted a miniscule 0.88 goals against average and a stout .949 save percentage in the three tourney triumphs. The junior allowed just three goals and made 56 saves in 240 minutes between the pipes during the tournament.
