It is whether day. Yes there maybe some weather - this is forecasted to be the worst day for weather - but it is whether your team advances or goes home. The first of two elimination games this windy and partly cloudy morning.

The evening games will be important as well. It is a decided advantage to keep in the winners bracket and the winner of game 11, the “winners bracket final” has he inside track to this year’s walnut and bronze.

Keep posted to d3baseball.com and all the live video, stats and updates available for those not fortunate to be here today.

Eastern Connecticut did not have the early luck with two errors in the first inning and a debatable hit batsman in the second but hey are making their own luck now with a 4-2 lead over Emory. Emory has only put three hits on the board in 14 innings of baseball.

    Great coverage!

I have the NWS radar on one screen, live stats on another, the message board on a third, this blog on a 4th and the video feed on the 5th! Plus the fridge is stocked! ;-)

    Live is tough!

  3. Ralph Turner Says:

I count that all 4 Emory runs are unearned. Is that correct?

  4. Ralph Turner Says:

    Emory 5, ECSU 4.

ECSU allowed 4 unearned runs (by my count) and the fifth Emory run was a leadoff walk that moved to second on a balk and then was singled in.

They’re having some Internet problems in the stadium in Fox Cities, so we haven’t heard much from Jim today. However, moments ago they brought the tarp out onto the field and we are in a rain delay in today’s second game.

  6. Pat Coleman Says:

The tarp is coming off and they’re hoping to get this started again within 20 minutes or so.

  7. Spence Says:

Heh I was just getting back from teh store and getting ready to post asking if they had pulled the tarp yet :)

I’m having some problems with the live video feed, but the game can be heard at http://www.wmoa1490.com

Marietta has taken the lead in the bottom of the 5th 3-2 on a couple of two out singles.

  9. beezy Says:

brockport (dennstedt), trinity(kiely), and kean(zeffiro) faced a much tougher cortland offense than what dougher had to face with brockport, trinity, and kean.

  10. Pat Coleman Says:

Agreed — same here about the video. They seem to be having trouble.

  11. dixon Says:

Its been an interesting day. It was not a surprise to see rain but it was a surprise to see the internet go. Things are dry now and the internet working.

Emory did not seem to figure out Zimmermann but Husing is having no trouble with 2 strike outs already of the D3baseball.com All-American

  12. Ralph Turner Says:

Kean and Chapman has settled into a really good game.

Kean’s failed suicide squeeze in the top fo the 5th hurt, but both Augustine and Kitchens are pitching well.

The score is tied 1-1 going to the bottom of the 5th.

  13. Ralph Turner Says:

Stuck with a rain delay and no internet!!!

    That must be really tough!

Those Chapman “whites” are a classically stylish uniform. (My grandmother was a Dodgers fan, having followed the Fort Worth Cats back in the Duke Snider/Bobby Bragan/Maury Wills days.)

I’ve been most impressed with Chapman’s infield defense.
