Wisconsin Ho’
May
2007
We are down to just eight teams to concentrate on and with the All-American team is out, it is time for a little break. My break means spending many hours in an airplane and car as I wind my way to the 2007 Division III Baseball championship.
I will be getting to the diamond when the gates open and leaving when they turn off the lights. If you get to be at the Championship and see me walking the concourse, stop me and say hello. I’ll be the guy in the hawai’ian shirt with my yellow Salem Buccaneers cap.
I wish I had some insight how the games will go but we have some pretty good match-ups to watch on the first day. Will we see anyone duplicate the feat of Eastern Connecticut’s Chris D’Amato who could not be gotten out (batting average of .786). Or will it be someone trying to beat Corey Hamman, Montclair State’s ERA record (0.34). No matter the individual stats, the focus is on that team prize of a national championship. The more each team wins, the more pressure there is to keep the advantage and keep winning. That pressure will be compare to those teams with a loss knowing that this could be the last game of the season.
See you in Appleton.

Does anyone know if there are any live stats for the games in Appleton? If not, can someone post some inning rundowns for today’s games?
Thanks!

Heh… I guess that’s why there wasn’t a whole lot of banter going on about the games… it really surprised me that there weren’t flashing signs with bright lights all about the championships… I guess we’ll see those tomorrow!
Thanks for all you guys do! It’s much appreciated!!

My *understanding* (he says, tentatively now, as he doesn’t see the games on the CSTV.com schedule of webcasts), is that live video of ALL of the games will be available via the portal that begins here:
http://all-access.cstv.com/cstv/player/player.html?code=cs
and does require you give them an email/password login to access the free content.
This is an NCAAsports-sponsored production, produced by a local Appleton outlet, and streamed via the NCAA’s broadcast partner CSTV/CSTV.com.
I don’t always know what I think I know, though.

Just wanted to make everyone aware that personal donations for the Bluffton baseball team will be accepted at the World Series in Grand Chute.
From the press release: “The memorial fund will enable the college to make enhancements to recently renamed Bluffton University Memorial Field and establish a permanent memorial to the victims.”
To view the entire release, go to the Division III Baseball Championship Web site, which is linked from the D3baseball.com page.
I hope we will show with our support what the D3 community is all about.
See you all tomorrow, and please consider bringing a few extra dollars.

There should be live stats available from the Championship site available on the left rail on d3baseball.com
There was some rain today in Appleton but I expect the storm is just blowing through.
