The end of a great series of games
May
2007
Saturday will see the end of eight great series. There were some great games but as the team move deeper into the rotation the stronger teams start to emerge. I am not surprised that any team is still in contention.
Marietta has to be one of the surprise teams. They were on the bubble when playoff teams were selected and made it in as one of the last teams in. They are proving that they intend to defend their title. It has been a long time since anyone has repeated but maybe this is the year.
Every year we see a team who has never made the Championship Round. Will there be two in Kean and Pacific Lutheran? Tough series await both.
Good luck to all the teams still playing. I’ll see eight in Wisconsin.

Point and Oshkosh just underway. No score after 1. Zimmerman throwing for Point, Bretl for Oshkosh.

Zimmerman is on top of his game against Oshkosh. He’s got 7 K’s in the first three innings.
If Point wins he’d have to be the unanimous regional MVP. Even if Point loses he’d have a shot.
May 19th, 2007 at 5:59 pm
UWSP on the board first. Archambeau doubles and Zimmerman singles him home. 1-0 Point after three.

A GREAT tournament this year. With still 2 regions to be decided today, it’s already been a classic.
37 games decided by 2 runs or less
11 extra inning games
7 shut-outs
The highest scoring game was the first of the tournament (Bridgewater 14, Methodist 21).
The lowest scoring game was one of the last (West Regional Title game: Chapman 1. PLU 0).
Here’s looking to an outstanding World Series in Wis!!
May 20th, 2007 at 10:20 am
I also count 17 games in which one team scored the go-ahead run(s) in their last time at bat.
And not to mention the first tournament no-hitter in 27 years.
May 20th, 2007 at 5:36 pm
The championship of the South region was about the most ridiculous (in a good way) thing I’ve ever seen…24 innings in total.

Congrats to Coach Decker and the Trinity Bantams for a great season! With most of the team back next year(2 Seniors) and some good recruits coming in, really looking forward to next season.
